Step 1: Thriller: The larger focal point plant that will take up the most space and can create a little shade and coolness for the other plants. 

Step 2: Filler: This is medium-ish sized plant that will fill in the center of the planter.

Step 3: Spiller: This is a smaller plant that tends to spill over the sides of your planter. To attract beneficial insects, we might consider adding an edible, on-theme flower to make your planter look beautiful to not just your eyes, but also the pollinating insects that will help your plants thrive or deter pests that you don't want.
